Title: Coveted Series no.7 Kodak "Brownie" Vecta Camera 1964
Introducing Wendy
What's in your art cup? Tea or coffee?
Boring but delicious flat white with whole milk in a big round cup made from a chocolatey blend.
Why this piece of artwork for the cup?
I entered a few of my coveted object series and this piece was chosen, it’s probably my favourite of the series so I’m glad it found a special place to hang around.
What is the story behind this piece of art?
I painted a series inspired by all the mid-century objects that I had coveted over the years. The box camera was cute as a button and I would love to own one so this is as close as I could get.
Art just makes us feel, things that sometimes we didn't know were hiding away, it can spark memories and completely change your mood, something this powerful needs to be supported and embraced.
What have you enjoyed about this project?
Being able to meet and connect with other artists and the little spark of joy when I have seen people drinking from my camera cup.
Why is it important to support the arts?
Art just makes us feel, things that sometimes we didn’t know were hiding away, it can spark memories and completely change your mood, something this powerful needs to be supported and embraced. I have a solo exhibition coming up in November at Palette Cafe in North Fremantle, it’s called Sun Lounging, an exhibition on my mid-century inspired pool scenes and interior.
